Trivial Thrills

I had been waiting in the Administrative block of MG University since morning to get my equivalency certificate. I helplessly joined the band of commoners who were at the mercy of busy officers. Three hours had lapsed. But there was no sign of getting my paper signed. Technology was equally helpless in rescuing me from the boredom that set in. The block seemed to have some kind of aversion to the much popular Reliance Jio network (if you know, you know 😀). There were other people like me who waited on the benches. Some were accompanied by babies whose innocent smiles came as a fresh ray of sunshine as I combated ennui. And as I sat aimlessly,  looking at the small lawn in front, I noticed a teeny tiny sparrow busily making its nest. I had seen nests before, but not the interesting process of building one. Romancing Twilight Stillness

  I await here for my husband-cum-travel companion to pick me from school. Twilight colors are spreading slowly. Birds signal one another that it’s time to settle down in their tiny nests. Or, are they reminding me to head back? May be. I’m only faintly swayed by the chilly wind, for today I’ve not forgotten my sweater. The golden hour hasn’t left us yet as I see sun rays  adorning the pathways and walls like a student who raises his hands to say ‘Present ma’am’. I cannot ignore the screeching sounds of vehicles that pass by as I sit near the main gate. My to do list is huge. Yet, it gives an insurmountable amount of peace to sit here and do nothing but observe the world around. The trivial sounds, sights and sensations seep into me like never before. I have student submissions awaiting my red inked signature and a packed day tomorrow. But this is now. Now I’m at peace. CARPE DIEM. - Written on 17 Feb 2022

WHAT IS IN STORE FOR YOU IN  JANA GANA MANA?   The very essence of Tagore's 'Jana Gana Mana' is the eulogized idea of unity in diversity. Director Dijo Jose Antony and his team question the status quo of this very theme through the 2022 Malayalam film Jana Gana Mana- Part 1.  People have been giving rave reviews right from the trailer launch for it is a story that time again mustered courage to lash out at the injustice practices we see on a daily basis. The director and script writer couldn't have done more justice to the truth that art is the mirror of the society. In the powerful court scene where Prithviraj as a lawyer condemns and questions how dirty politics and hunger for power work, one cannot help but salute the power of art.  ACTORS I t will be unfair to pick only one or two actors to commend on their performance.
